Identify Your Pest
Black Widow
Black widows are shiny black with a distinctive red hourglass shape on their abdomen. Their webs are messy, irregular, and three-dimensional—almost like tangled fishing line. They lack a clear pattern and feel strong and coarse when touched.
Brown Recluse
Brown recluses are light to dark brown with a distinctive violin-shaped marking on their back. Their webs are flat, irregular sheets of loosely woven silk, often appearing messy and disorganized. Unlike many spiders, brown recluses don’t use their webs to catch prey—they rely on them primarily for shelter and egg-laying.
Sac
Sac spiders are pale yellow to beige, small, fast-moving, and primarily nocturnal. Instead of building prey-catching webs, they create small silk sacs that are typically found in corners or along ceiling edges. These sacs are used as protective hiding spots during the day.
Wolf
Wolf spiders are stout and hairy, with striped or mottled patterns in shades of brown, gray, or black. They don’t build webs to catch prey but are active ground hunters. However, they still produce silk, which some species use to line their burrows or wrap and carry their egg sacs.
